The Laboratory of Environment Transfers Modelling (LMTE) and the Laboratoire d’Aérologie (LA) are seeking a PhD candidate. The 3-year position is funded by the French “Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique” (CEA). The PhD candidate is anticipated to commence in September or October 2015.
LMTE is a research group of the CEA, aiming at the study of the dispersion of plumes from an emission area. For more details, seehttp://www-cadarache.cea.fr/
LA is a research Lab. from the University of Toulouse and “Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique”. For more details, seehttp://www.aero.obs-mip.fr/
The topic of the research is to study the atmospheric dispersion, in stable conditions, in the CEA-Cadarache area, and in particular the impact of local orography. The study will be based on WRF+FLEXPART modeling, and observations gained in a field campaign conducted in winter 2013. A more detailed description (in French) can be found at:
The main working place will be at LMTE in Cadarache, France (43°69’N, 5°76’E), with some stays in Toulouse, France (43°33’N, 1°28’E).
Eligibility: To be eligible, the applicant must hold a Masters degree in atmospheric science or closely related disciplines.
Ranking criteria: Knowledge in boundary-layer meteorology and atmospheric dispersion is valuable. Previous experience in atmospheric modelling, at local and/or meso-scale,
would be appreciated. At least adequate English language skills are required. Ability to acquire oral and written French would be appreciated.
Tax free stipend is about 19 000 Euros per annum.
