The Planet Keeps Breaking Heat Records
On the heels of NASA and the Japan Meteorological Agency’s data release earlier this week, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has published its November temperature data. It shows that November was record warm and it’s a given that the world is going to have its hottest year on record. November was 1.75°F above the 20th century average, making it the hottest November by a long shot and the second most-anomalously warm month recorded in the 135 years of measurements. It marks the seventh month in a row with record setting warmth and has locked in record heat for the year.
Gauteng braces for record-breaking Heat Wave
Johannesburg - Gauteng is set for a record-breaking heat wave on Thursday with temperatures expected to surpass 40°C in some areas.According to the South African Weather Service, people in Johannesburg should gear themselves for an energy-sapping 39 °C on the same day while Pretoria is set to be on the receiving end of an even hotter day with predicted temperatures at 41°C.
Heat wave MAP: Temperatures soar close to 50°C
Cape Town - The South African Weather Service has warned of extremely high fire danger conditions expected over the extreme western parts of the North West, Northern Cape, northern parts of the Eastern Cape, Central and Klein Karoo, West Coast District, Cape Winelands, places in the Overberg District and in the Cape Metropole in the Western Cape.
